Dr. Markus Prumer
Colour is the essence of my paintings
It shows a superimposition of snapshots in different layers and textures. These reflect the metamorphoses of life and my socialisation. My art aims to inspire people to constantly reinvent themselves. It is ‘infinito’, a term originally used for ‘sculpture’ and borrowed from art history. It means both unfinished and infinite.
As a visual artist and art historian with a doctorate, it is inevitable for me to constantly reorient myself and adopt different perspectives, just as I want viewers to discover in my non-representational paintings. In terms of content, I deal with the aesthetics and visualisation of complex thought processes, which I question in terms of their sensual experience and material content.
The mostly large canvas works play with the harmony and disharmony of acrylic and acrylic spray paints as well as the contradiction of placing colour in a certain position on the one hand and allowing the composition to emerge from the intuitive and uncontrollable part of spontaneous action during the painting process on the other. At the same time, I try to combine the knowledge
I try to combine the knowledge I have acquired in the past in order to break new ground now and learn new things in the future. My pictorial language is the result of spontaneous action, knowledge and experience, with colour at its centre.
Vita
In his paintings, the artist explores the boundaries of colour and form. By applying and removing multiple layers of bold acrylic and acrylic spray paint, he creates dynamic compositions that invite the viewer to discover something new every time they look. His working method is intuitive and process-oriented, using the interactions of colours and textures to create emotional resonances. His abstract painting, attributed to ‘Neo-Impressionism’, allows him to go beyond the boundaries of the real and create new worlds. It gives him the freedom to shape his own reality and share it with others.
His life and interests are just as multifaceted as his art, which reflects this philosophy of life. As a ‘creative mind’ with a doctorate in art history and an exhibition curator, he combines different fields of activity and is always reaching for multifaceted new projects.
Born in Landsberg am Lech and currently working in Nuremberg, the self-taught painter lends his unique pieces an ethereal atmosphere that inspires his audience at exhibitions, art events and workshops.
